This weekend… markets, sports movies & birthdays

Friday 7/29:

Check out the fare this week at the Wyck House Farmer’s Market in Germantown.  Lots of fresh local yumminess- giving you two ways to be green: get your veggies AND buy local.

After you enjoy those fresh fixings for dinner, head back out and catch this week’s Mt. Airy Moonlight Movie: The Sandlot. This one is rated PG… a tale of friendship, baseball, family and some coming-of-age issues.  A great flick for the late tween/early teen crowd.  Movies start at 8:30pm outside the Lovett Library in Mt. Airy.  Bring blankets, chairs, and some spending money… 15% of profits at the Trolley Car’s concession go back to the library.

Saturday 7/30:

Another outside movie for the tween/early teen (and up) set plays in Mt. Airy on Saturday night outside the Trolley Car Cafe’. Pride (PG) will be showing on the jumbo screen at 8pm.  Pride is a great movie about local hero, Jim Ellis, who started the PDR Swim Team and now coaches at the Kroc Center.  This movie takes the plunge into sports, determination, and race relations.

Sunday 7/31:

What better way to spend the late morning on Sunday than celebrating the 5th birthday of Franklin Square? 11am- Join Ben Franklin and bring the whole family to sign a giant birthday card, enjoy Birthday Bonanza Sundaes at SquareBurger, face painting,  birthday “craftivities” and, of course, cake!  Definitely worth the trip downtown… especially on a low-traffic Sunday.

*The first 55 children receive a FREE ride on the Philadelphia Park Liberty carousel and a FREE Birthday Bonanza Sundae from SquareBurger.  Yum!
