This month we say good-bye to Thanksgiving and the last lunar eclipse (a penumbral to be exact) of the year. The wintery mix most of us experienced on Tuesday is a sure sign of the season to come. There are many ways to welcome the new cycle before it actually arrives on the Solstice.
Family fun activities to welcome December are happening this weekend and next. Look at it as a chance to get out when the cold is mild and hibernation fever has not fully shown itself. The Friends of the Wissahickon have designed ways to entertain and explore nature and engage families. Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill neighborhoods are also collaborating on the winter time fun with “A Dickens of a Christmas” returning to the hill. So get out, get down, and kiss the trees good-bye (except the evergreens). Create beautiful memories and buy local gifts.
Winter at the Wissahickon will take place rain or shine on December 1st at 12p.m. @ The Valley Green Inn. Enjoy warm apple cider, hike the woods, enjoy a light lunch and make your wreaths and more. Just register in advance, $30 for adults, $10 for children and family package for $75 (includes 2 adults and 2 children).
