The long weekend in Philadelphia offers a smorgasbord of fun and unique ways to explore the city. Here are just a few offerings:
This year marks the fifth year of this wonderful tradition! Anyone of any age can participate, so hand over that cellphone or encourage your kids to use the camera. Take photos during the day and submit your favorite shot to Philly Photo Arts Center. The Center than creates an exhibition with every single submitted photo, to be displayed in a gallery exhibition and on billboards in November and December and in a groundbreaking inaugural outdoor exhibition in the newly revitalized Dilworth Park at City Hall in April of 2015. Invite your child to make their mark on the city!
Celebrate the end of the main growing season with food, ice cream, a pie-baking contest,
pumpkin bowling, pumpkin golf and pumpkin painting.live music, hay rides and the petting barnyard, and the ever-famous Cow Plop Bingo, featuring Nina the Cow. The festival runs from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Saul farm, across from Saul High School.
Saturday will bring even more fun than usual to our very favorite play space. The playground will celebrate David Pincus Fun Day with a circus performance from Philadelphia Circus Arts, face-painting, hot dogs, ice cream and popcorn free to all visitors. Join in the Pincus tradition and put a smile on every child’s face.
The Old City Seaport Festival kicks off with the Parade of Boats on Friday at 5pm. But if you can’t make it then, don’t worry… the slew of Tall Ships, river tours, boats of all kinds, vendors, face painting, and kids activities run all weekend long along the waterfront. And while you’re there, check out the amazing ,Tides of Freedom exhibit detailing the African presence along the Delaware River.
