5 activities for families in Philly this weekend

Here are some ideas to fill your weekend with the family while enjoying the beautiful springtime weather. Don’t forget it’s Daylight Savings Time this weekend!

Saturday and Sunday: The Science Behind Pixar

Explore the science behind the creation of some of your favorite Pixar characters! The Franklin Institute’s interactive exhibit is a must see for those interested in learning the fascinating aspects of computer animation production. See link for schedule and ticket prices.

Saturday: Fairmount Waterworks Tour

Join other local families for a free tour of Fairmount Waterworks. Tour this National Historic Landmark inside and out and explore the history of Philadelphia water. 1 to 2 p.m.. Free, pre-registration encouraged.

Sunday: Flower Show Jamboree

Enjoy family-friendly fun all day long at the Philadelphia Flower Show. This years show explores America’s iconic national parks through acres of stunning displays. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: Women’s History Month

Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Constitution Center. Discover important moments in women’s history through interactive activities and a special tour. Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.¬†Free with Museum admission.

Saturday: Fungus Among Us

It’s all about fungus at The Schuylkill Center on Saturday! Hunt for mushrooms on the trails, enjoy performances and other fungus fun. Pre registration encouraged $12, 1 to 3 p.m.
